Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Terrier / Mixed. FUN, SWEET & ACTIVE: Approx. 1 year old / Approx. 35 lbs. Hello – I’m Eleanor! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control, and I am so happy to be soaking up all the love from the volunteers. I’m now ready to find a wonderful home of my very own with a family to love and be loved by! I hope to meet them very soon! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts and liked them; however, I should not live with other dogs due to some guarding that I did when visiting a home. / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and I think older kids are best. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a sweet, people-loving pup with a wonderful mix of gentleness and enthusiasm. I can be strong and energetic on walks – and I definitely love to jump for joy – so I’m still learning my leash manners. But during bath time and ear cleaning, I was calm as can be, standing in the tub and leaning against the edge like a pro. I’m playful, friendly, and smart, and even though I can be a bit excited and full of energy, my kind heart and lovely personality always shine through. The shelter environment is a bit stressful for me, so I’ve started on 2 anxiety medications that I think I’ll be able to wean off once I’ve settled into my new home. / Energy level: 5-7. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have already mastered the ‘sit’, ‘come’, and ‘leave it’ commands as well as how to accept friendly strangers without jumping, and I look forward to learning more. / The crate isn’t my favorite place, but I’ll go back into it especially if a treat is involved. / My potty manners have been good on the shelter schedule. In my temp. foster home, I had a few accidents and some excited peeing while I was settling in, so I’ll do best with a consistent routine as I adjust. Once I understand the routine, my potty habits should continue to improve. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I really love people, and toys are always a big hit with me, too! I enjoy playing fetch, running outside in the yard, and just being an all-around silly, goofy girl with you! As we get to know each other, I’m sure we’ll discover even more things we’ll enjoy doing together. / Other than being a bit stressed in the shelter environment and not really wanting to go back into my crate, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. As stated above, I’m on 2 anxiety medications for shelter stress that I think I’ll be able to wean off of as I settle into my new home. I’m a fun-loving active girl looking for the same in my new family. My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
