Dog Breed: Bulldog (short coat). ***Laverne is with a loving foster near Ringoes, NJ . An application for her adoption can be submitted at socorescue (no need to register or login). Questions about Laverne and/or our adoption process should be sent to socorescue8gmail; please do not call the rescue's number.*** Towards the end of Sept 2025, two female dogs, Laverne and Shirley, appeared on the property of SoCo Rescue. Both girls were very friendly, going straight up to a staff member as if they were seeking help. The girls were hungry, thirsty and in need of a little compassion. We believe the two dogs abandoned along Vance Rd by someone who simply no longer wanted them. When you look into Laverne's eyes, you'll see just how deep her love for you could be. Yearning for love and doing all she can to find it. She's very affectionate, plays gently and loves belly rubs almost as much as she does giving kisses. She's gotten along great with her companion Shirley and should do well with another dog. (We're not yet sure about cats.) Laverne loves "tracking" scents along the ground, with proper training, she could become a great search-rescue type of dog. Laverne has now received an update on all of her annual vaccinations, de-wormings and other such vet care. Laverne has also been spayed and received negative test results from both her recent parasite screening and heartworm test.
