Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog / Husky / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 450. Meet Sallie! Sallie is a very sweet, gentle girl who loves being close to her people. She isn’t one to jump in your lap or demand attention, but she’ll happily come over for pets and settle right beside you, always content just being near. She especially loves neck rubs and will often rest her head softly on your lap—one of her many endearing traits. Sallie is a big chewer and proudly shreds toys, and she can happily work on a bone for hours. She sleeps peacefully at the foot of the bed alongside other dogs and does wonderfully with a normal daily routine—eating meals, going outside to potty, relaxing uncrated while her people are at work, and enjoying an afternoon walk. In the yard, she’s a joy to watch as she runs, leaping and twisting with playful grace. She’s a great listener and responds well to gentle redirection. Sallie has a few scars from her time living outdoors, but they only seem to make her more appreciative of the comfort and safety of a warm home. Given the chance, she will be an incredibly loyal companion. Sallie does wonderfully with kids and happily accepts hugs and kisses all day long. She’s very food-motivated, patiently waits for her meals, and takes treats gently from your hand. While she’s still learning to walk on a leash, she doesn’t pull and is eager to keep improving. With her sweet nature, quiet affection, and loving heart, Sallie is ready to find a family who will give her the forever home she truly deserves. Sallie is from a local reservation. Breed overview
Overview:
The Gerberian Shepsky is a hybrid of the German Shepherd Dog and Siberian Husky, emerging in North America as a modern companion with working-dog roots. Typically medium to large, they feature an athletic build, erect ears, and a dense double coat, often with striking blue or heterochromatic eyes. Their temperament blends loyalty, intelligence, and independence, making them affectionate yet occasionally headstrong. With very high energy, they thrive on daily exercise and structured training, suiting active families more than apartment living without ample outdoor time. Early socialization supports good manners with children and other pets. Notable health considerations include potential hip dysplasia and eye issues; regular vet care, weight management, and coat grooming help maintain well-being. Their typical lifespan ranges around 10–13 years, rewarding committed owners with a loyal, adventurous companion.
