Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Bingo is a sweet, affectionate boy with a big heart and a strong desire to be close to his people. He loves attention and would happily volunteer as a full-time lap dog. He bonds deeply and truly wants to be part of the family. When he first came into foster care, Bingo was undernourished, but with consistent meals and routine he has filled in beautifully. Despite his past, he shows zero food aggression and will even sit patiently while his bowl is set down â a wonderful sign of his trusting temperament. He is smart and eager to learn, quickly picking up commands like sit and stay. He responds best to positive reinforcement and calm, consistent leadership. He settles nicely in his crate and sleeps through the night. Bingo gets along great with children, even when theyâre enthusiastic with affection. He has a gentle and tolerant nature. So far, Bingo has done well with other dogs and would likely thrive with a playful canine companion. We have not tested him with cats. He is a playful, enthusiastic boy who is still polishing his manners, but he responds quickly to guidance and continues to improve with structure and routine. Bingo would do best in a loving home ready to embrace an affectionate, loyal companion who wants nothing more than to be close to his people.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
