Description

Dog Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Rolo is with our rescue partner in Louisiana and can come to NJ if we find a foster or adopter. Rolo came from a hoarding situation with more than fifty dogs, and he is still learning what it means to feel safe. He is very timid and easily frightened, so he will need a patient family who understands that trust takes time. A calm, quieter household where someone is home more often would be the best fit for him. Rolo is an independent boy who enjoys observing the world at his own pace. He loves the company of other dogs and feels comforted when he has canine friends around. Soft dog beds and stuffed toys are his favorite things, and he relaxes most when he has a cozy spot to call his own. With time, gentleness, and stability, Rolo will continue to come out of his shell. He has a tender spirit and will blossom in the right home. If you are looking for a sweet, sensitive dog who needs a safe place to land, Rolo may be the one. Rolo is up to date on vaccines and is fixed. His adoption fee is $450. Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through they deserve a loving, committed home. If you are interested in learning more about me, and possibly making me part of your family, please go to wag-on-inn . Overview:

The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
