Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: $300.00. Meet Lucey — Your Gentle Giant Goofball Hi, I’m Lucey! I’m a 2-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound with a tall frame, a soft heart, and the gentlest personality you’ll ever meet. I may be tall and lanky now, but I’m filling out into the big, loving girl I’m meant to be. I adore people, love making new friends, and can’t wait to find the family who will cherish my goofy, tender spirit. All About Me Extremely gentle girl despite my big size (30" tall & 50" long) Currently 70 lbs, working toward a healthy 80–90 lbs Love walks and greeting every new person I meet Dog-friendly and eager to play with my furry dog friends Working on potty training — improving every day Getting comfortable in my crate (“condo”) and napping there after walks/ playtime Sit pretty for treats and love learning Haven’t met kids or cats yet, but my gentle nature suggests I’d do great Hoping for a family who wants a sweet, calm, goofy companion to love forever I can’t wait to make my forever family smile every single day. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
