Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Avani is a beautiful happy girl who is looking for a new home. Avani is with our rescue partner in Louisiana. We do offer a foster-to-adopt trial for approved adopters. Meet Avani- your new best girl! Avani is a gorgeous 3 year- year old tan pittie mix with the sweetest soul and the happiest smile. She'd friendly, gentle and lights up every room she walks in to. Great with dogs Great with kids Ready to love her forever family Avani is playful, affectionate and so deserving of a family to call her own. Avani is fixed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. She tested negative for heartworm. Her adoption fee is $450. Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
