Dog Breed: Cattle Dog / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: $300.00. Hi, I’m Ethan! I’m a 9-month-old happy boy and I currently weigh about 31 pounds, but I’ll probably be around 40 pounds when I’m all grown up I’m listed as a black lab mix, but my foster mom thinks I might have some pit bull in me too — whatever I am, I promise I’m very handsome and very sweet. I absolutely love people. Meeting new friends is my favorite, and I’m a big fan of cuddles, kisses, and playtime. I get along amazing with other dogs, big or small, and I’d love a doggy sibling. I’m a smart pup and I try really hard to be good. I’m crate trained, potty trained with a dog door, and I learn new tricks super fast. I already know sit, lay down, and crawl! I’m also very food motivated, so training me is easy and fun. I have the perfect mix of energy — I’m always ready to go for walks, play, or adventures, but I’m just as happy to chill and cuddle when it’s time to relax. Because I’m still young and learning my manners, I would do best in a home with kids over 8 years old, since I’m still working on not jumping on people when I get excited. I love toys, being with my people, and making everyone around me smile. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, fun-loving best friend, I might just be your guy. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
