Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Meet June! June is a sweet, gentle girl about a year old and weighing around 39 pounds. She was found as a stray by a kindhearted citizen, and she’s been blossoming ever since in her foster home. While June can be a little shy at first, she’s gaining confidence every day and showing more of her lovely personality as she settles in. She does wonderfully with her foster’s three dogs and clearly enjoys canine companionship. One of her favorite pastimes is relaxing in the yard, peacefully watching the deer go by—she has a calm, thoughtful nature that makes her a joy to be around. June would thrive in a patient, loving home that will continue to help her build confidence and feel safe. If you’re looking for a gentle, observant, and sweet companion, June might be your perfect match. June is microchipped, spayed and current on her vaccines. Her adoption fee is $415. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
