Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Harley is a 5-year-old female Pit mix weighing approximately 43 lbs who is searching for her forever home after being surrendered due to her previous home having too many animals. She's now ready for a fresh start with a patient, loving family who will let her settle in at her own pace. Harley is a calm, gentle companion who prefers a peaceful lifestyle. She isn't overly playful and doesn't require a lot of exercise, making her a wonderful match for someone looking for a relaxed, low-key dog to share their days with. She is crate trained and currently learning to grow more comfortable walking on a leash. She would thrive in a home where she's given time, understanding, and consistency as she builds confidence and adjusts to her new surroundings. Harley's adoption fee is $125. She is spayed, microchipped, current on her basic annual boosters, and heartworm negative. Harley would love to meet you! RAC completes this procedure at the age of 12 weeks. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption. This policy is non-negotiable and violation of this health code is a criminal offense.

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
