Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Harley is a 5-year-old Pit mix weighing about 43 pounds who is calm, affectionate, and happiest simply being near her people. She enjoys cozy naps, relaxed evenings, and the occasional playful moment once she's comfortable. She is crate trained, walks well on leash, and would thrive in a laid-back home that enjoys daily walks and quiet companionship. Harley has done well with respectful dogs who prefer to coexist rather than constantly play. Harley is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and heartworm negative, and she's ready to start her next chapter with a loving family. Harley has officially joined our Diamond Dog program and has been patiently waiting 90 days as of 03/09/26 to find her forever home. To help her shine a little brighter, her adoption fee is now $75. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption. This policy is non-negotiable and violation of this health code is a criminal offense.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
