Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (short coat). Location: Lexington, KY Boris the Blue is on a search for the perfect family! At 13 weeks old, Boris is a cute as a button, but is a VERY confidant, bold, and 110% cattle puppy! Boris is NOT for the faint of heart! He is a confident puppy that while adorable will need an experienced cattle dog home to help channel his energy and mind. He is extremely food motivated, wicked smart, picks up on basic commands / tricks very quickly. He will likely do well in dog sports and has already shown how confident he is running up and down a A-frame on an agility course. While Boris is a typical “mouthy” cattle dog pup, he is responding well to correction. He does “herd” ankles so a home with young kids would be very very challenging and not recommended. Older children with dog experience will be just fine. He wants to please, loves fetch, tug, and all toys and bones. He is doing well with crate and potty training but will need ongoing training as he is so young. He will need structure, a schedule and puppy classes are highly recommended. Boris is not going to be a Cattle Dog fit for apartment/city living. He most definitely needs a yard and room to run freely. Boris is UTD on age appropriate vaccines and preventatives. He will be adopted out with a neuter contract. Questions about Boris? Email kebtyleryahoo Apply to adopt Boris: acdra/adoption-application

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
