Description
Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois. Meet Whiskey – NY Style! This youngster is so full of energy he can hardly settle down – in fact, he likes to spend time up – in the air! This boy is a rocket jumper! Just 1 ½ years old, he is learning quickly and will need time and patience to reach his potential. Wary at first of new people, he is fine after slow introductions. He knows basic commands and is gaining on solid extended stays. His manners are not perfect yet, but he is quickly improving! He does have solid recall – especially when returning to his person! In fact, Whiskey is the ultimate Velcro Malinois, stuck right at your side. He loves loves loves balls, of course – and is endlessly carrying his Kong around. His handler focus is fantastic - he positions himself so that he can look directly into his handler’s eyes. He has learned to tolerate the crate When not playing and training, he loves to go visit his friends where he lives – the cats, emus, horses, chickens as well as other dogs.Whiskey is young, smart, and eager to learn. With the patience and consistency of a breed experienced adopter, he has exciting potential for dog sports such as scent work and agility! *********************************************** To apply to adopt, please fill out the application by clicking on the Adopt button or ask for this dog to be added to your existing application. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
