Dog Breed: Black Labrador Retriever / Shepherd / Mixed. Meet Nova! Nova is a 2.5-year-old, 52lb Labrador/Shepherd/Husky mix with a heart as big as her smile. She’s sweet, goofy, and incredibly loving—everything you hope for in a best friend. When her people come home, Nova celebrates with joyful pogo jumps, and she’s working hard on her manners, including resisting the temptation to “shop” from the counter. She can get a little jealous when another dog gets the attention she knows she deserves, but she’s learning and improving every day. This smart girl was fully house-trained on day one in her foster home and uses a doggy door like a pro. She loves romping and playing with other dogs and then curling up in her favorite cozy spot for a well-earned nap. Nova is a total cuddle bug—belly rubs, ear scratches, paw massages… she’s here for all of it. If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate companion who brings joy wherever she goes, Nova just might be the perfect match. Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
