Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 600. Hi! My name is Salsa… but there’s really nothing spicy about me. My foster family calls me Rolo, and honestly, I think it fits me perfectly. I may be a puppy, but I’m actually pretty easygoing! My foster dad says I’m the perfect mix of “go” and “whoa.” I love curling up with a good bone to chew, but I’m always down for some wrestling with my foster sister or a nice walk around the neighborhood. I can be a little timid at first, but I warm up quickly. I would love a home with another dog. I really enjoy learning from my canine friends and following them around. Over Christmas, I spent time with six other dogs and did great. I quickly learned who wanted to play and who didn’t, and I respected those boundaries like a champ. I’m doing really well with both crate training and potty training. I might whine a bit when I first go into my crate, but I settle in nicely. At night, I’ll let you know if I need a potty break, otherwise I sleep until morning. Any potty accidents I have right now are mostly human error… sometimes my people don’t notice me waking up from a long nap or after a big play session. I love a good chew and have been known to snag a human shoe once or twice, but I redirect very well and much prefer my toys. During dinner prep, you’ll usually find me laying right in the middle of the kitchen. Some might call it a tripping hazard… I call it being part of the action. Everyone who meets me says I’m just the sweetest little honey, with the cutest markings. I can’t wait to find a family of my very own to love, follow around, and curl up with. Salsa is from a local reservation. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. Breed overview
Overview:
The Sheprador, a popular crossbreed resulting from the union of a German Shepherd Dog and a Labrador Retriever, embodies many desirable traits from both parent breeds. Originating from designer breed efforts to combine the intelligence of the German Shepherd with the Labrador's friendly disposition, these dogs typically boast a medium to large build with a dense, weather-resistant coat that can range in color. Physically, they often exhibit the Shepherd’s strong bone structure and the Lab’s kind eyes. Temperamentally, Shepradors are generally intelligent, loyal, and trainable, making them excellent companions for active families. They thrive on human interaction and do best in homes with a yard, as their energy levels make apartment living challenging without significant daily exercise. While generally healthy, potential health considerations include hip and elbow dysplasia, common to both parent breeds, and eye conditions. Early socialization and consistent training are key to fostering a well-adjusted Sheprador.
