Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 400. Briggs is a striking and gentle Shepherd/Lab Mix who is just 8-9 months old and discovering the world with a sweet and eager heart! He is a playful best friend yet also had a calm, soulful side that loving more than curling up next to his people. Like many puppies who didn't get the best start he's learning what love, safety and a routine are. Briggs is blossoming into a devoted, joyful companion who will make a wonderful addition to any family. Briggs and his brother, River, grew up as a strays that were both held in a rural pound for months. When their time ran out and they were scheduled to be euthanized for space, Haven was able to pull them just in time Briggs is thriving with potty training, discovering the magic of toy and slowly finding his confidence. He enjoys walks and does great on a leash. He is still a little shy with new experiences and people, but once he warms up he won't stop asking for belly rubs! This handsome 50 pound boy is crate trained, gentle and eager to bond deeply with someone patient, loving and consistent! Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
