Description
Dog Breed: English Mastiff. Meet Mavis Mavis is a sweet, 3-ish year old female Mastiff who’s looking for her new forever home. She came into our rescue from a California shelter along with her buddy Draco, and we’re just starting to learn more about her personality. Mavis can be a little spicy at times, but she’s also active, playful, and full of character. She does well with large male dogs and enjoys having space to move and play. At this time, she is unknown with cats and small animals, so a home without them is preferred until we know more. As we continue to work with Mavis, her personality is shining through more each day. She’ll do best with a confident adopter who understands the Mastiff breed and can provide structure, patience, and love. If you’re interested in meeting Mavis and giving her the chance she deserves, please visit our website and submit an application. .azmastiffrescue #AZMastiffRescue #RescueMastiff #MastiffLove #AdoptDontShop #MastiffRescue #RescueDog #ForeverHomeWanted

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
