Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). ❄️ Meet Frosty — 11-year-old Pit Mix ❄️ Don’t let the gray fool you — this stout old gentleman still has plenty of pep in his step! Frosty enjoys wrestling with other dogs just like the young pups and proves that age is truly just a number. He also rides beautifully in the car and is an all-around easygoing companion. Frosty ended up in a high-capacity, high-euthanasia shelter after his owners became homeless. He and his housemate were surrendered together. While his housemate was lucky enough to be scooped up quickly, Frosty was left behind… waiting. We’re so grateful we could save him, because this sweet senior boy has so much love left to give. Frosty deserves a soft bed, a warm home, and a family who will cherish him through his golden years. ❤️ Could Frosty be the missing piece of your family?

In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics.
