Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 400. Meet Gracie! Gracie is a 3-5-year-old Yorkshire Terrier mix weighing just 9 pounds, and she’s ready to begin the life she’s always deserved. This sweet little girl didn’t receive much love or affection in her earlier years, but now her eyes are bright and her heart is open. With patience and kindness, her gentle personality truly shines. When meeting new people, Gracie can be shy and timid at first, approaching with caution and tenderness. Once she feels safe, she enjoys quiet companionship, soft affection, and long, relaxing naps. She’s just beginning to discover toys and is finding them more and more interesting as her confidence grows. Gracie is also doing well with her potty training and continues to make steady progress. She gets along nicely with other dogs of all sizes. Gracie would thrive in a calm, loving home where she can feel secure and cherished. A fenced-in yard is preferred, and she would do best in a home with children ages 6 and older who understand how to be gentle and respectful with a small dog. She’s looking for a forever family who will spoil her with love and patience and allow her to blossom at her own pace. If you’re searching for a loyal, affectionate companion who’s happiest simply being by your side, Gracie promises endless love in the tiniest, sweetest packag If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: .starfishanimalrescue/adopt/dog-adoption-application . Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
