After enduring significant neglect early in life, Onyx was rescued and carefully rehabilitated. He is now healthy, fully vaccinated, and has completed comprehensive veterinary evaluations, all of which returned normal results. His recovery has been remarkable, and he’s ready to begin a new chapter with a family who will continue to nurture his progress. Onyx is an energetic, social dog who loves people and enjoys being involved in daily activities. He does best in a home where someone is present most of the day, as he thrives on companionship, attention, and structure. He interacts well with other dogs but can be a bit pushy during play, so he needs a confident owner who can provide proper corrections and guidance to keep playtime appropriate. Onyx is friendly with children and enjoys their company, but due to his size and enthusiasm, he may accidentally knock over smaller or younger kids. For this reason, he may be best suited for a home with older children who can participate in his training and play safely with him. He has made strong progress with potty training, though he may occasionally have accidents when he feels a lack of attention or becomes emotionally unsettled. With consistency, reassurance, and a stable routine, this behavior continues to improve. Onyx has a notable prey drive, so care should be taken when introducing him to small animals. With proper introductions and consistent correction, he likely can coexist peacefully with a cat. As a Standard Poodle, Onyx requires regular professional grooming every four weeks, along with at-home brushing to maintain his coat and comfort. Onyx does well with grooming as his foster mom is a professional groomer and grooms him weekly. He would be a great creative grooming dog for another groomer. With training he possibly could enter competitions. Onyx absolutely loves to run. He would significantly enjoy an active owner. Especially someone interested in training for canicross or bikejoring.
