Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Meet Chevy – Your New Co-Pilot for Life's Adventures Hi there! I'm Chevy, an 18-month-old Pit mix weighing in at about 48 lbs, and I'm officially ready to trade shelter life for the open road... straight to your heart. I was found at Archer's Auto Shop in Rockwall on 12/19/25 and, when no one came to reclaim me, I decided it was time to start looking for a forever family of my own. I'm a sweet, well-mannered guy who walks nicely on a leash, knows my basic commands, and genuinely enjoys being around people. I love attention, companionship, and being included in whatever my humans are doing—whether that's a stroll around the neighborhood, a car ride, or just hanging out at home. At the shelter, I've done well with other dogs and have shown that I can be a friendly, social boy. If you have a dog at home, a meet and greet will still be required to make sure our play styles and personalities are a good match before I head home with you. My adoption fee is $125, and I come neutered, microchipped, and current on my core yearly vaccinations. I did test heartworm positive, but the good news is that my treatment is fully sponsored thanks to the amazing support of Rockwall PAWS, so I'll be able to start treatment right away. Staff are always happy to answer any questions about heartworms or my treatment plan. If you're ready for a loyal, affectionate companion who's excited to be your sidekick, apply to adopt me here: rockwalladoptions/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ Once your application is approved, RAC staff will contact you to schedule a meet and greet. I can't wait to meet you and start our next adventure together! All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9 am to 6 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 5 pm. For questions, please call 972-771-7750 ext. 2 or email infoRockwallAdoptions. IMPORTANT NOTICE: All shelter animals are required by Texas state law to be spayed/neutered. RAC completes this procedure at the age of 12 weeks. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption. This policy is non-negotiable and violation of this health code is a criminal offense.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
