Description
Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois. Roxy Update — She’s Doing Great! Roxy continues to amaze us with her resilience and sweet spirit. After being found beside her deceased brother with a broken leg, Roxy underwent surgery and has spent the past few weeks recovering with her incredible foster, Tina. We’re happy to share that her stitches came out the other day, and at the pace she’s healing, she’ll be fully recovered in no time! She’s been an absolute trooper throughout her recovery. Roxy is a 3-year-old petite female Malinois located in California. She’s a low-drive, gentle girl whose biggest goal in life is simply to be where her human is. She’s crate trained, housebroken, and ready to start her next chapter. She gets adorably excited when meeting new people because she just can’t wait for the pets. She may bark briefly when someone new walks through the door, but she settles quickly and is easily reassured. Roxy will thrive in a calm, loving home. She’d enjoy obedience training to keep her mind engaged, but she doesn’t need to be an athlete. After everything she’s been through, what she truly wants is simple — to be with her people and be happy. Stay tuned as Roxy continues to heal and prepare for her forever home — this sweet girl is so ready for the love she deserves. Interested in being the change in these dog's lives? Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
