Description
Dog Breed: Schnauzer / Wirehaired Fox Terrier / Mixed. NAME: Button STATS: Male, Schauzer/wire haired terrier mix, 2 years, 25 lbs. TEMPERAMENT: Friendly. Active (may be good at agility training). Playful, but not overly so. Needs to be around his people. SKILLS Potty trained. Leash trained. Good with dogs. Would make a great hiking buddy. Highly intelligent. Has not been exposed to children, but we feel gentle children over 8 would be fine. Has not been exposed to cats. Plays with all 3 of his foster siblings every day. MORE ABOUT ME: Likes belly rubs. Couch cuddler. Likes walks. Likes playing with other dogs. Submissive. Suggest training (basic manners). ONE LAST THING: Button is what I like to call a "plug & play" dog. He integrated into our pack seamlessly & almost instantly, so I believe he would do the same with his forever family. He's a great dog. He learned the dog door after the first time one of our dogs showed him how. He hasn't had an accident in the house since the first day. He loves walks & has even been great on off-leash hikes. He's good in the car. He is not a door dasher & will stay close when outside. He loves being close to his people & is never out of my sight unless he is playing or pottying outside. He loves to snuggle & (don't tell anyone!) sleeps in our bed.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
