Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 600. Meet Leaf: a tiny teddy bear with absolutely zero chill. Leaf is a goofy, lovable puppy who has completely taken over his foster family’s hearts—and honestly, their sanity too. He’s smart, very food-motivated, and already plotting how treats will run his future household. Training should be a breeze… as long as snacks are involved. He loves playing in the snow and clearly sees himself as a future adventure dog, despite currently being a clumsy potato with big paws and floppy ears. When he carries a toy, he does the most precious bumble-strut imaginable—no grace, all joy, maximum serotonin. His favorite thing in the world? Mini tennis balls. His second favorite thing? Chewing literally everything like it personally offended him. Leaf hates being away from his people and considers barriers to be optional suggestions. He has successfully gone under them, over them, and loudly protested them. He will yell about being left in his playpen… but to his credit, he eventually accepts his fate and settles down. Like any proper puppy, Leaf alternates between chaotic play sessions and crashing hard for naps next to his sister or his humans. He looks like a stuffed animal, acts like a lovable menace, and is going to be the perfect (slightly dramatic) addition to someone’s family. Click here and here to see how much I love the snow! Leaf is from a local reservation. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. We cannot guarantee the breed or size they will be full grown.* If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.

Breed overview
Overview:
The Sheprador, a popular crossbreed resulting from the union of a German Shepherd Dog and a Labrador Retriever, embodies many desirable traits from both parent breeds. Originating from designer breed efforts to combine the intelligence of the German Shepherd with the Labrador's friendly disposition, these dogs typically boast a medium to large build with a dense, weather-resistant coat that can range in color. Physically, they often exhibit the Shepherd’s strong bone structure and the Lab’s kind eyes. Temperamentally, Shepradors are generally intelligent, loyal, and trainable, making them excellent companions for active families. They thrive on human interaction and do best in homes with a yard, as their energy levels make apartment living challenging without significant daily exercise. While generally healthy, potential health considerations include hip and elbow dysplasia, common to both parent breeds, and eye conditions. Early socialization and consistent training are key to fostering a well-adjusted Sheprador.
