Description
Dog Breed: Boxer (short coat). Tripp’s story began when a Good Samaritan found him as an injured stray. He was heartbreakingly thin, with wounds covering his back. We will never know if it was a ca r strike, an animal attack, or something else — but we do know that Tripp didn’t give up, and neither did the people who stepped in to help him. Thanks to medical care, groceries, and lots of TLC, Tripp has been nursed back to health and is now ready for adoption We estimate he’s about 1-1.5 years old, he is neutered, vaccinated and 50lbs. Tripp is a happy, playful young boxer who loves to romp and play with other dogs in the yard. He does have one important quirk to note: Tripp resource guards food, so his adopter must be committed to feeding separately if there is another dog in the home. With proper management, he does very well. Aside from that, Tripp is simply a joyful, healthy boxer boy who is ready to leave his rough start behind and start his forever life. Breed overview
Boxer
A.K.A.: Deutscher Boxer, German Boxer, Dutch Boxer, Boxer dog, Boxy, Boxerman
Overview:
The Boxer is a medium-sized, short-haired dog breed of German origin, known for its distinctive appearance and vibrant personality. Physically, Boxers possess a strong, athletic build with a characteristic square head, an undershot jaw, and often a docked tail and cropped ears (though these practices are becoming less common). Their short, glossy coat typically comes in fawn or brindle, often with white markings. Temperamentally, Boxers are renowned for being incredibly loyal, intelligent, and energetic, making them fantastic companions for active families. They thrive on human interaction and can be playful and patient with children, making them excellent family pets. While their energy levels require regular exercise, their adaptability means they can adjust to apartment living if their activity needs are consistently met. However, potential owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to some cancers, heart conditions like cardiomyopathy, and hip dysplasia, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups.
