Description
Dog Breed: Rat Terrier (short coat). At 16 years young, Molleigh is proof that love—and a good nap—only get better with age. This sweet senior has been part of the New Rattitude family for years, and while her journey has had a few unexpected turns, her gentle spirit has never wavered. Molleigh first came to rescue in 2020 alongside her daughter, and both girls soon found loving homes. For the past five years, she enjoyed a cozy, sun-filled life with devoted adopters, plenty of window-watching opportunities, and all the snuggles she could ask for. Now, through no fault of her own, she's back with New Rattitude as her family navigates health challenges—and she's once again being cared for by the same foster home who loved her the first time around. This 19-lb lady is all about the simple joys. Think soft beds, slow strolls, and snacks—especially snacks (win her heart with a treat and you're in for life). She's a calm, easy companion who gets along well with cats and other mellow dogs. While she has experience living with a child, Molleigh would be happiest in a quiet home where she can truly relax. These days, stairs are a bit much for her, and she prefers to keep all four paws on the ground—so a single-level home or apartment is ideal. She now uses potty pads, which helps her stay comfortable and stress-free. Molleigh isn't asking for much—just a peaceful place to rest her head, a kind human (or two), and a little extra love in her golden years. In return, she'll offer quiet companionship, soft eyes full of gratitude, and the kind of steady presence only a senior dog can give. If you believe the best hearts come with a little gray around the muzzle, Molleigh might be your perfect match. Rat Terrier

Overview:
The Rat Terrier is a lively and intelligent American breed, originally developed in the early 20th century from a mix of Fox Terriers, Old English White Terriers, and other small terriers, primarily for farm work and pest control. These compact yet sturdy dogs typically weigh between 10-25 pounds and stand 10-18 inches tall, boasting a short, smooth coat that comes in a variety of patterns, often with large patches of color over white. Known for their energetic and inquisitive nature, Rat Terriers are remarkably adaptable and affectionate, making them excellent companions for active individuals or families. While their boundless energy necessitates regular exercise and mental stimulation, they can thrive in apartments provided their needs are met. Generally a healthy breed, they have a lifespan of 12-18 years, though some may be prone to patellar luxation or Legg-Calve-Perthes disease. Their friendly disposition and eagerness to please make them highly trainable and a joy to live with.
