Description
Dog Breed: Husky. Meet Mato! A classic husky heart wrapped in fur, opinions, and just a little bit of chaos. Mato is playful, friendly, and delightfully mischievous—exactly what you’d expect from a husky who knows he’s handsome and isn’t afraid to use it. He loves to play, explore, and keep life interesting (read: he will absolutely find his own fun if you don’t provide it). He does well with neutral to friendly dogs, but he’s not a fan of dominant or super pushy male dogs, so thoughtful dog introductions are a must. And this part is non-negotiable: Mato CANNOT live in a home with cats. Absolutely not. His prey drive is strong, and we’re setting everyone up for success here. Because he’s all husky—brain, energy, and spirit—Mato needs an adopter with solid breed experience (husky or similar working breeds). Someone who understands that huskies are smart, stubborn, athletic, and require structure, enrichment, and a good sense of humor. If you’re experienced, active, and ready for a fun-loving, trouble-making, adventure buddy who will keep you on your toes (and maybe talk back a little), Mato might just be your guy. He is neutered, dewormed, microchipped, current with all vaccines (as appropriate for his age) and on flea and heartworm prevention. Mato is currently being fostered in South Carolina. ADOPT MATO!! .LuckyPupRescueSC The adoption fee is $375.00 and we require a vet check and home visit.

Breed overview
Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
