Description
Dog Breed: Cane Corso Mastiff. Sloan was dumped and abandoned out past Tonopah, left in the middle of nowhere—but despite her rough start, this sweet girl still wants nothing more than to please. She tries so hard and can be a little anxious as she learns, but we are working with her every day to help her build confidence and trust. Sloan loves treats and is just beginning to discover the joy of toys and bones. She is dog friendly and eager to learn, though she will need continued work on leash manners. She’s truly a work in progress, but one with so much potential and heart. Once Sloan is ready, she will have her cherry eye repaired and will be spayed. After that, she’ll be all set to find the loving forever home she so deeply deserves. If you’re looking for a special girl to grow with and help blossom into her best self, Sloan may be the one.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
