Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 200. Sourdough warms everybody’s heart! We don’t know much about this masked man. He’s a mix of tradition and care. Sourdough was trapped near the House of Bread, after he was discarded by his owners and believed to of been hit by a car. Sourdough has recovered from FHO surgery and is rising from his injury. Don’t tell him though, Sourdough never missed a step, never complained and never showed pain. He kissed his foster as she removed his stitches. Sourdough is a male, about a year old, and 40ish pounds. Sourdough loves to play with other dogs, destroy a good toy, and snuggle. But, it’s people that makes Sourdough melt. If you are there, he is right by your side. If you are looking for an easy, loyal companion, Sourdough will fit easily into your family. You provide the love, he will provide the lust. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.

In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
