Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Meet Kaia - A Gentle Girl with a Heart Full of Love Kaia is a beautiful 6-year-old American Bully weighing about 43 pounds who is searching for a new forever home through no fault of her own. Her family received military orders to a state where her breed isn't permitted on base, and though they loved her dearly, they had to make the heartbreaking decision to rehome her. Now, Kaia is ready for her second chance and hoping to be right back where she belongs - at the center of a loving family. Kaia is affectionate, well-mannered, and incredibly loyal. She does wonderfully with other dogs, is great with children, and has a calm, loving personality that makes her easy to adore. She is both house trained and crate trained, making her a smooth transition into home life. She thrives on companionship and absolutely melts for belly rubs - her favorite thing in the world. Whether it's relaxing on the couch, going for a walk, or simply being by your side, Kaia is happiest when she's with her people. Kaia's adoption fee is $125. She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on yearly vaccinations, and heartworm positive, with treatment fully sponsored by Rockwall PAWS. RAC staff are happy to answer any questions about her care. RAC completes this procedure at the age of 12 weeks. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption. This policy is non-negotiable and violation of this health code is a criminal offense.

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
