Though she’s a little shy at first, once she feels safe, Canela leans in for affection and soaks up every bit of kindness offered her way.Life hasn’t always been easy for Canela. She was kept outdoors, and her coat tells the story of a girl who’s weathered more than her fair share. But those days are behind her now — and she’s ready to start a new chapter as a cherished family member.Canela is still learning to feel comfortable around other dogs and would thrive in a calm home where she can take her time to adjust. What she wants most is a person who will show her that she never has to be cold or lonely again.It’s easy to see why she’s a volunteer favorite — her quiet sweetness wins everyone over. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who just needs a little patience and a lot of heart, Canela is waiting to meet you. She’s ready to trade her rough past for a future filled with warmth, comfort, and love. Canela recently met some social dogs at our shelter and did fine. She was scared of the other dogs and just kept close to the people in the pen. She wasn’t ready to play, but we hope that as she gets more experience in our shelter playgroups, she’ll be ready to show us her silly side with other dogs. Looking for a buddy for your dog? Check out her playgroup video here: To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To help expedite the meet and greet process, please make note of my Animal ID number, and those of other dogs you might be interested in meeting. Be sure to bring your ID with you, too. The Doberman Pinscher is a sleek and powerful breed originating from Germany in the late 19th century, specifically developed by Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann for protection. Known for their striking, athletic build, Dobermans typically possess a short, glossy coat that comes in black, red, blue, or fawn, often with rust-colored markings. Their temperament is a fascinating blend of loyalty, intelligence, and alertness, making them exceptional guardians and devoted companions. While highly trainable and eager to please, they require early socialization and consistent training to channel their energy and protectiveness appropriately.
