Description
Dog Breed: Border Collie / Great Pyrenees / Mixed. I'm Wallace. I'm a Border Collie/Great Pyrenees mix, sometimes known as a Great Collie. How fun is that. I'm told I have the perfect blend of brains, beauty and big-dog charm. I'm already 45 lbs at 5 months old, so I'm going to take after my Great Pyrenees side and be a big boy when I'm all grown up. I'm looking for a fmily who's ready for a big, loving companion - where I can have space to grown, guidance as I learn and plenty of affection along the way. If you dream of a beautiful pup who will be your adventure buddy and your snuggle partner - I may just be your boy! If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at .polkcountyhumanesociety/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop

Breed overview
Overview:
The Pyrenees Border Collie, a compelling hybrid of the intelligent Border Collie and the majestic Great Pyrenees, emerges as a fascinating and capable companion. Originating from combining these two distinct working breeds, its purpose is often to blend the herding prowess of the Border Collie with the guarding instincts of the Great Pyrenees. Physically, expect a medium-to-large dog, typically exhibiting a dense, weather-resistant coat, often in shades of black, white, merle, or tricolor, with a build that suggests both agility and strength. Temperamentally, they are generally loyal, intelligent, and protective, making them excellent family guardians. However, their intelligence also means they require consistent training and plenty of mental and physical stimulation to prevent boredom. While their protective nature can be wonderful for families, early socialization is crucial. Due to their size and need for exercise, they are not typically suited for apartment living and thrive in homes with ample outdoor space. Health-wise, they can be predisposed to conditions affecting their parent breeds, such as hip and elbow dysplasia, and eye conditions, so responsible breeding practices are vital.
