Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (medium coat). MEET CHAI! My friends describe me as: adventurous, enthusiastic, and snuggly! Chai is a 1 year old girl looking for a new beginning. She arrived on our doorstep because her owner was experiencing housing instability and decided it was best that Chai, and her sister Latte, get the chance to meet a new family that will give her everything she needs. Chai is eager to please and enjoys meeting new people and other dogs. She is a an active and sweet girl, she enjoys walks and playing with her favorite toys - whatever your up for she's up for doing! We don't have a ton of history on her but we do know she's ready for the next adventure that life has to offer her. Consider dropping by our Brewster branch during our open hours to meet her. Chai is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been spayed, microchipped and seen by our vet team. For more information on Chai or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
