Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Nylah is a 1-year-old pittie with main-character energy and the strong belief that she is, in fact, a lap dog who should be carried when the mood strikes. Don't let that fool you, though—this girl can move. She loves to run, play, and burn off her puppy energy, then happily settle in for cuddles once the fun is done. Though walking is her favorite activity. One look into Nylah's eyes and you'll be smitten. She has stunning, expressive eyes that look like she's permanently rocking perfectly applied eyeliner—no makeup required. She knows how to use those looks to her advantage, too. Nylah is sweet and affectionate with her people, but she can be fearful of men and will do best with a patient, understanding adopter who can help her build confidence at her own pace. Because of her sensitivities, she is not well suited for a home with small children. A calmer household with adults or older teens would be her ideal match. With time, consistency, and lots of love, Nylah will thrive and show you just how special she is. If you're looking for a playful, affectionate young pittie who just wants to feel safe (and occasionally be carried), Nylah might be your perfect girl. If you're are interested in meeting her, please fill out an application at .tahoewarf and text 775-338-6631 or 775-846-3773.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
