Description
Dog Breed: Pug / Beagle (short coat). Adoption Fee: 350. Please contact LMo for more information about this pet. Thanks for your interest in a pet from A.R.F.! If you see a pet here, they are still available for adoption and you should apply through our adoption application on our website at .arf-il/adopt/application/ Winthrop (aka Winston) is a 9 year old male Puggle who weighs in at 30 pounds. This dog's adoption fee is $350. His ARF name is Winthrop, but the name he knows is Winston. If you are still interested, please read more below. Winston is a loving dog who looks like a puppy but is really a 9-year-old handsome fella! He has a very sweet temperament and loves people. He loves leisurely walks and will sniff the ground beagle style for as long as he is allowed! He is housebroken and used to be alone every day. He is used to living with a loving human who walks him in the AM and PM and having a visit from a dog walker one time during the day. Winston is not great with other dogs but can usually be diverted when out for a walk. Winston’s perfect home would be one looking for a special companion. He would be fine with a single person. He would also function well with a house full of kids as he began life with a family of 5 children and lots of activity. This distinguished gentleman is looking for a home where he can live out the rest of his years and in return he will love you with all his heart. Winthrop is microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housebroken, and neutered. This dog's family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing. A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you are interested in adopting this dog, fill out an Online Application today! Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting. Thank you for considering a rescue pet from A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation! We are based in Wheaton, IL and conduct adoption events in the DuPage County area. If you are interested in adopting one of our pets, please submit an adoption application at .arf-il/adopt/application/ Adoption appointments are scheduled based on the order of applications received, so submit your application early! Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions or schedule meetings until your application has been approved. More information about our adoption process can be found on our website here: .arf-il/adopt/ As an all-volunteer, foster home-based organization, A.R.F. Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals. Please visit .arf-il/events/ for a list of our upcoming adoption events. Thank you for choosing to adopt, not shop!

Overview:
The Pug, a charming and ancient breed, boasts a fascinating history believed to originate in China as early as 206 BC. Known for its distinctive flat, wrinkled face, large, expressive eyes, and tightly curled tail, the Pug's compact, muscular build is instantly recognizable. Despite their somewhat serious expression, Pugs are famously friendly, playful, and affectionate companions, often described as "clowns" due to their comedic antics. Their relatively low exercise requirements and adaptability make them excellent pets for apartment dwellers and devoted family members, thriving on human companionship. However, prospective owners should be aware of certain health considerations, primarily their susceptibility to respiratory issues due to their brachycephalic (short-nosed) structure, as well as potential eye problems and joint conditions. With proper care and attention, the Pug offers years of unwavering loyalty and delightful companionship.
