Description
Dog Breed: Siberian Husky (medium coat). Meet Chris Jr.- Your Future Fluffy Best Friend This handsome guy has an independent streak and a cool, reserved vibe. He may take a little time to warm up but you’ll soon start to see his big personality shine through. He recently enjoyed a “Barks n’ Rec” outing and absolutely nailed it—park adventures, cozy indoor snuggles, and (very importantly) a well-earned pup cup. He’s the kind of dog who’s equally happy exploring outside or supervising nap time from the couch. Chris Jr. was gentle, patient, and wonderfully well-mannered with a 6- and 8-year-old, proving he’s got both the size and the softness for family life. This boy is affectionate, calm, and gives off strong “loyal sidekick in a feel-good movie” energy. He may look majestic, but don’t be fooled—he’s also a total cuddle enthusiast who will happily trade snuggles for treats. If you’re looking for a loving companion who can turn an ordinary day into a great one (especially if pup cups are involved), Chris Jr. is ready to meet you. To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To help expedite the meet and greet process, please make note of my Animal ID number, and those of other dogs you might be interested in meeting. Be sure to bring your ID with you, too. We are located at 3839 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento. I look forward to getting to know you!

Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
