Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Ghost is a 3 year old Heeler/Boxer/Pitt mix, kind of heinz 57 variety. His coat coloring is black & white. He is neutered and has his vaccinations and immunizations. This guy is housebroken and crate trained; ready to fit right into your home! He is good with other dogs and with cats. But likes his meals separately from any other pets in the household. Ghost is a super sweet boy, and so very friendly. He likes being around adults and children. Ghost is a very active dog, who loves to play, and likes being outside, walking with his people. He also enjoys car rides. Lying on the couch watching TV with you, is just another of his favorite things. You will need a yard with a tall, secure fence if Ghost is to spend any time alone outdoors. Please come meet this guy at Amarillo SPCA, 11901 S. Coulter. The shelter is open Tuesday thru Saturday from 12 to 5 p.m. 806-622-0555.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
