Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 20. Meet Peppermint Patty! This adorable girl found herself at the shelter as a stray and, sadly, was never reclaimed—but she hasn’t let that dim her sparkle one bit. Peppermint Patty is estimated to be around 3 years old, weighs 57.4 lbs, and is the perfect mix of playful fun and cuddle-seeking sweetheart. She loves attention and will happily soak up all the pets you’re willing to give. She seems to do well with other dogs, but we always recommend bringing your pup along for a meet-and-greet to make sure everyone gets along. Her adoption fee is sponsored and reduced to just $20! That includes her spay, vet exam, one set of vaccines (including rabies), a fecal test for parasites, and general dewormer—all completed before she goes home. If you’d like to meet this precious girl and maybe fall a little in love, please call to schedule an appointment at 256-362-5856. Peppermint Patty is ready to be someone’s happily-ever-after

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
