She's a gentle soul who loves being close to her people, often showing her affection with friendly face licks and talkative little sounds. If you're sitting down, she wants nothing more than to be right there with you, soaking up your company and sharing quiet moments together. After her recent surgery, she has been recovering well and has adapted beautifully to her crate, finding comfort in cozy hiding spots. She surprised us with her playful side-she enjoys a good game of fetch, even though she's a bit overweight and she's now on a healthy diet with daily walks to help her get fit. She's nearly fully potty trained with only a couple of accidents that were more our fault than hers. She's wonderful with children and very tolerant of other dogs. Overall, she's a loving, gentle companion who would thrive in a caring home where she can continue her journey to better health and happiness. If you're looking for a loyal and affectionate addition to your family--especially one who loves to be by your side--she could be the perfect fit! Angel Grace is not available for adoption just yet. Overview:
The Dachshund, affectionately known as the "wiener dog," is a fascinating breed originating in Germany, primarily bred to hunt badgers and other burrowing animals. Their most distinctive physical characteristic is their long, low-slung body and short, muscular legs, a feature perfectly adapted for tunneling. They come in three coat types – smooth, longhaired, and wirehaired – and various sizes, from miniature to standard. Temperamentally, Dachshunds are known for being courageous, curious, and often quite playful, with a surprising amount of energy. While they are intelligent, their independent nature can make training a delightful challenge. Their small size and relatively low exercise requirements make them well-suited for apartment living, and they can be wonderful companions for families, though early socialization is key, especially with children and other pets. Regarding health, their unique body shape predisposes them to intervertebral disc disease (IVDD), so careful handling and weight management are crucial.
