Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 550. Kmet is a sweet Shepherd/Hound mix boy born around the end of September, and he’s quickly blossoming into a loving, confident little pup. When the litter was first picked up, Kmet was the shy one of his siblings—but once home, it didn’t take long for him to warm up. Now, he loves being with his humans and siblings and enjoys soaking up all the attention he can get. Currently weighing about 8.8 pounds, Kmet greets his people with a constantly wagging tail and is especially happy in the mornings when everyone comes downstairs. He’s doing wonderfully with potty training, letting his foster family know when he needs to go outside and also using training pads successfully. Impressively, he’s already learned to go up and down the stairs all by himself with ease. Kmet loves playing indoors and outdoors with his siblings and enjoys romping around with his foster mom’s 3-year-old Lab. When playtime winds down, he’s a big fan of snuggling up close to his foster mom and siblings. Inquisitive, affectionate, and eager to learn, Kmet is ready to meet his forever family and continue growing into an amazing companion The adoption fee of $550 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
