Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier. Meet Zeus Zeus is a large, almost two-year-old pit bull mix with the biggest heart and an incredible love for his people. He is sweet, affectionate, and happiest when he is right by your side. Zeus doesn’t just enjoy human company — he truly needs it, and forms deep, meaningful bonds with those he trusts. He has a medium energy level and enjoys a balance of playtime and quiet time. Zeus has briefly fostered with two female dogs and did well with them. We are unsure how he would do with male dogs, and he may be able to live with a dog-savvy cat. Zeus has severe separation anxiety and must have an adopter who is home nearly all of the time. He would thrive in a home with someone who works from home, is retired, or otherwise has a lifestyle that allows them to be consistently present. Being with his person is what helps Zeus feel safe, calm, and secure. Ongoing support from a veterinarian and a professional trainer will be important as he continues to build confidence. Zeus’s needs are significant, but so is his capacity for love. For the right person who can truly be there for him, Zeus will be an unbelievably loyal, devoted companion who gives his whole heart. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
