Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (short coat). Lower Fees. Adoption $150.00, Transport: $100.00 is one of our special Hope dogs, a program that you can read about here: .crossingpathsanimalrescue/adopt/hope-dogs. About: Nova was surrendered to us because her dad said he liked his other dog better and wanted to devote more time to his other dog. Even with the strange reasoning for her being surrendered, Nova hasn’t let that stop her from capturing everyone’s hearts here. Nova is the absolute sweetest girl who is loyal to the end. Some may say she is a tad “clingy” but that’s what makes us love her so much! She loves kids and walks great on a leash. She even keeps her kennel sparkling clean and only goes outside to potty – score! She is crate trained and doesn’t seem to mind cats. She does well with other dogs but does take a moment to warm up to them. (Posted 12/31/25, Hope) Adoption Fee: $150 plus a $100 transport fee, as noted in the listing.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
