While acclimating after being found as a stray, he has shown himself to be an agreeable little guy, good with people, calm with older, mature children, and playful with other small dogs. It does take him some time to adjust to new surroundings, which is normal. He was well behaved at his first vet visit, though he hated his first visit to the groomer! Dash enjoys being held, loves following his foster mom around the house, but also enjoys time to himself curled up in his own space with a cozy blanket. Dash is nearly 100% housetrained, using pee pads when alone for a longer period of time. Dash is looking for a loving home to call his own and we believe would do well in a low key, calmer environment, perhaps a family with older children, a single person, or a mature couple. Dash is still adjusting to the many changes in his life. As a young dog he will need all the necessary training to make him the best adult dog he can be. And, as is often the case with small dogs, he will require time, patience and love during the decompression and acclimation process in order to succeed in his new home. Dash is ready for love and a new start to life - might that be with you? Applications can be submitted through lgarinc/adoption-application/. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
