Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. We adopted Ripley from a rescue about a year ago. She is a sweet, beautiful dog. Unfortunately, she does not get along with our family dog that we've had for 5 years. Ripley has become territorial of the backyard and has attacked our male dog a few times. We had an animal behaviorist come in to consult with us and it has been determined that the dog's personalities just do not click. We have had no issues with her and our 6-year-old son or our female cat. I think she would do best in a home as an only dog, but I do not see her having any issues with children, people, or cats. She is a fantastic watchdog and has a protective nature with our son. She would sleep in his room every night. I just unfortunately cannot leave the two dogs unattended at this point **** Breed: Mostly Lab **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2192317&flag=1

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
