Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Bandit is a 4yrs old, Olde Boston Bulldogge, intact male. He has no medical issues, and vet records from birth to present. He doesn't do well with cats, or other small critters, as he was bred to work a farm, and get He has a very strong prey drive. That being said, he does well even in an apartment setting, is very affectionate, and loves to cuddle under the covers. He is good with larger dogs, and gets along well with controlled introductions.(He gets excited to meet new friends and can get a little jumpy.) Our situation is time sensitive. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
