Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Hi! I’m Ezmerelda, but my friends call me Ezzy. I came in hot from the South and I’m built for just about anything — especially becoming someone’s just right adventure buddy. I’m not little, I’m not big… I’m perfectly in between and ready to keep up with whatever life throws our way. Want a hiking partner? A running buddy? A co-pilot for road trips? Or maybe you’ve been eyeing that agility class and just needed the right dog to try it with — because watch out, Ilona Maher… I’ve got some moves. I’m a little athlete with moderate-to-high energy and a big enthusiasm for life. I do have a tiny voice that pops out now and then — only because I care so much and want to make sure I’m doing exactly what you’re asking. It’s the sweetest little hound sound, and most people say it’s impossible not to smile when they hear it. I truly love everyone. New people, new friends, playtime — I’m all in. I’m also proud to say I’m 100% potty trained and quiet and content in my kennel when it’s time to settle down. If you take a chance on me, I promise to show you just how full of adventure (and joy) everyday life can be. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives prior to adoption. The Rescue Crew is a foster based rescue organization, meaning all of our adoptable pets are located in homes throughout Minnesota. We do not have a physical location where you can stop by to visit the animals - we require the completion of an Adoption Request Form prior to meeting any of our adoptable pets in foster care. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
