Despite her past, Bonnie’s spirit is soft, loving, and incredibly calm — she’s the kind of dog who makes a house feel like home. Bonnie is slightly smaller than Clyde and is currently working on gaining some healthy weight. She has a stunning red-and-white coat with no black, soulful eyes, and the gentle presence of a dog who truly just wants to be loved. This girl is super chill, affectionate, and easy to live with. She thrives on couch cuddles, quiet companionship, and simply being near her people. Bonnie has a wonderful temperament and is going to make an exceptional companion for someone looking for a laid-back, loyal hound. She’s doing well in foster care, settling into life as a cherished pet instead of a tool — learning that she’s safe, adored, and finally allowed to just be a dog. With patience and continued structure, Bonnie is blossoming more every day. Bonnie would do best in a home with a yard (no apartments) and with people who appreciate and understand the Basset Hound breed and are ready to give her the peaceful, loving life she has always deserved. If you’re searching for a gentle, affectionate, couch-loving companion, Bonnie is ready to curl up beside you and never look back. Overview:
The Basset Hound is a charming and distinctive breed, originating in France as a scent hound primarily used for hunting hare and rabbit. Easily recognized by their long, droopy ears, sad-looking eyes, and short, sturdy legs, they possess an incredibly powerful sense of smell. Despite their somewhat mournful expression, Bassets are known for their gentle, laid-back, and affectionate temperament, making them wonderful companions for families. They are generally good with children and other pets, though their stubborn streak and loud baying bark require consistent training. While they can adapt to apartment living with sufficient daily exercise, their tendency to follow their nose means a secure yard is essential. Potential owners should be aware of common health concerns such as ear infections due to their long ears, back issues, and bloat. Overall, the Basset Hound is a loyal and loving, if sometimes comically determined, addition to many homes.
