Description

Dog Breed: Rat Terrier (short coat). Andi is with our partner rescue in Louisiana and will be arriving in NJ on 1/31. Andi’s story started a little rough. She was found abandoned in a ditch, but she hasn’t let that dim her loving spirit one bit. This sweet, petite girl is all heart and charm. Andi adores attention and wants nothing more than to be close to her people. She’s affectionate, a bit goofy, and happily climbs into your lap whenever she gets the chance. She loves her toys, enjoys playtime, and does great riding in the car. She’s currently thriving in a foster home with children, cats, and other dogs, and is doing wonderfully with everyone. Andi is crate trained and continuing to work on her manners, picking things up more and more each day. If you’re looking for a loving little shadow who will make you smile and snuggle right up beside you, Andi may be your perfect match. Andi is up to date on vaccines and has been treated for puppy/kitten parasites. Wag On Inn will arrange for spay/neuter and microchip at 5-6 months of age at The Spay and Neuter Center of New Jersey in Holmdel. Adopters must live within driving distance of Holmdel, NJ. Her adoption fee is $550. Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through they deserve a loving, committed home. CLICK HERE TO FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION!

Rat Terrier

A.K.A.: American Rat Terrier, Rattie, Feist, Ratting Terrier, Ratting Feist, Decker Terrier
Overview:

The Rat Terrier is a lively and intelligent American breed, originally developed in the early 20th century from a mix of Fox Terriers, Old English White Terriers, and other small terriers, primarily for farm work and pest control. These compact yet sturdy dogs typically weigh between 10-25 pounds and stand 10-18 inches tall, boasting a short, smooth coat that comes in a variety of patterns, often with large patches of color over white. Known for their energetic and inquisitive nature, Rat Terriers are remarkably adaptable and affectionate, making them excellent companions for active individuals or families. While their boundless energy necessitates regular exercise and mental stimulation, they can thrive in apartments provided their needs are met. Generally a healthy breed, they have a lifespan of 12-18 years, though some may be prone to patellar luxation or Legg-Calve-Perthes disease. Their friendly disposition and eagerness to please make them highly trainable and a joy to live with.
