Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. A HANDSOME & FUN FRIEND: Approx. 5 years old / Approx. 34 lbs. Hi, my name’s Zane – a wonderful, handsome fellow with lots of love and silliness to share! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control, and I couldn’t be happier to be part of the Mostly Mutts family! I hear that once you are a Mostly Mutt, you take the next step to getting a wonderful home of your very own. I am all on board for that! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts and had a lot of energy with some excited barking, etc. and not all dogs will like this. In my temp. foster home, I was more comfortable with the bigger, more mellow dogs and showed a little too much curiosity about the smaller one. If you have a dog that would be alright with my style of meeting, then let’s meet and see if we can be pals! / It’s best that I don’t live with cats as I’ve displayed some prey drive in my temp. foster home. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, but I was unsure about them when I saw them and barky/growly from a distance in a temp. foster home, and I can be a little mouthy at times, so kids 15+ are best for now and I’ll be tested soon. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m described as a sweet, energetic boy who’s friendly, happy and playful, all rolled into one. I’m active and fun, and even though the bath sprayer scared me at first, once the shampoo was done, I settled in, trusted my bather, and even gave her a few sweet kisses. My temp. foster described me as a pup with a sweet little personality and a big interest in everything the family is doing because I just love being included. If I feel that I’m being left behind, I may try to dash out the door after you, so just be mindful of this as I don’t want to get lost or hurt if I run out the door. / Energy Level: 5-7. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I have learned the ‘sit’, ‘come’, ‘down’, ‘stay’ and ‘drop it’ commands. I’d do best with a furever family who enjoys keeping me active and supports my continued training. / The crate isn’t my favorite place, so I hope I won’t have to spend much time in it in my new home. I slept in a separate bedroom with my crate door open in my temp. foster home. / I’ve been doing well with my potty manners at Mostly Mutts, with very few accidents. I also did well in my temp. foster home once I learned the routine. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love toys, especially the tough, indestructible kind like Nylabones and frozen peanut butter Kongs. I’m always up for a walk and am happy to go as far as you’d like. After some playtime, I enjoy relaxing nearby and keeping you company before heading off to find another toy to enjoy. I really love being close to people, and I’m athletic, too, so let’s have some fun together! / I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I have moderate tartar on my teeth, so my adoptive family should consult with their vet and consider a dental cleaning in the future. I’m a wonderful dog looking for a wonderful home and family! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
