Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 275. Meet Boulder , a handsome terrier mix looking for his forever home. He is thought to be about 3-4 years old and weighs about 40 pounds. Boulder is playful, affectionate, and loves being part of daily life with his people. He’s potty trained, crate trained, and great on a leash, and he enjoys playing with dogs his own size. Because of his play style, he would do best in a home without small dogs. Boulder thrives in an engaged home with adults or older teens and would be happiest with someone looking for a loyal, fun companion—not a background dog. If you’re ready for a dog who wants to walk, play, and truly be your best friend, Boulder is your guy. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
