Description
Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois / Mixed. You've heard of NBA legend Charles Barkley, aka the “Round Mound of Rebound”? Introducing MAD Rescue’s very own Charles Barkley — the Brown Mound of Rebound! He may not dunk, but he will bounce straight into your heart. At roughly five months old, this Texas pup was found after being dumped in the middle of nowhere. But don’t worry — this rookie is already proving he’s got star potential. Training Stats: Charles is almost fully house trained — he occasionally has a little “timeout” accident before bedtime, but he’s improving fast. He’s fully crate trained, knows sit and down, and is working hard on his “no jumping” game (he mostly forgets right before dinner ). He’s food motivated, smart, and learning more every day. And while balls aren’t really his sport yet, he’s starting to enjoy toys — especially rope toys, which he plays with like he’s practicing for the playoffs. Lifestyle: Most of the time, Charles is a professional benchwarmer — chilling on the couch or lounging in his crate like a seasoned pro. He’s also cat friendly, which means he’s recruiting fans from every team. Kid & Dog Friendly: Charles recently had a big playdate with his sister and two tiny fans (ages 3 and 5). He was gentle, calm, and happy to run around in the backyard until everyone was worn out. Then he curled up with the girls for snuggles — no jumping, no nipping, no fouls. Just pure gold-star behavior. Once this boy warms up, he: • Plays like he’s in the finals • Cuddles like he’s signing his rookie contract • Makes friends like he’s collecting endorsement deals Charles Barkley is sweet, goofy, gentle, and discovering that love is way better than the wilderness. If you're ready to coach this all-star to greatness, he just might be your #1 draft pick. *********************************************** To apply to adopt, please fill out the application by clicking on the Adopt button or ask for this dog to be added to your existing application. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
